2001 – ‘A Night Out with John Course & Andy Van’

Vicious released its first DJ mixed house music compilation called ‘A Night Out With John Course and Andy Van’ in September 2001. The CD featured a selection of songs already dispersed on the label along with some of the world’s top dance hits and again connected the label with DJ culture.

2001 also began a long association between Vicious owners Andy Van and John Course and the Australian editions of The Ministry of Sound ‘Annual’ and ‘Sessions’ albums. These annually released compilations, particularly ‘The Annual’ (released in the lead up to Christmas each year), became one of Australia’s highest selling compilations.

Andy Van mixed one of the discs on the first “2002 Annual” (released in late 2001) on the back of his Madison Avenue success. John went on to mix a disc for the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 Annuals, plus four editions of Sessions and the 10-year anniversary edition of The Annual.  In total, Ministry sold more than 1 million compilations in Australia that included a John Course DJ disc.
