1995 – The Original Pendulum

Pendulum, (the Melbourne duo not to be confused with the Perth artist of the same name that emerged later), broke out in the mid-90s with ‘I Need U’ a track often played by Pete Tong on his Radio One UK dance show. The duo, was made up of Noel Mihailovic and Julian Warner.

‘I Need U’ was remixed by Melbourne based Ivan Gough (one of his first remixes), before Ivan went on to co-produce a bunch of his own music, none bigger than the massive crossover hit ‘In My Mind’ on Axtone Records.

Pendulum’s single paved the way for a super creative album titled ‘3 Knocks’ released on Vicious. A mixture of ambient and electronica, it was a very forward-thinking collection of music and still sounds great today. They went on to have Vicious’ first Australian pop charting single a few years later, which you’ll find more about in this timeline in 1997!
