Vicious Pty Ltd Privacy Policy
Vicious Pty Ltd is committed to protecting personal information. We are bound by Australian privacy law and the National Privacy Principles (“NPPs”). These set out exactly how personal information must be handled by a business whenever it is collected.
Vicious Pty Ltd only collects information necessary for running the business, and will at all times make it clear as to why that information is being collected and how it will be used. We also have to take all reasonable steps to ensure that the information received is correct and is stored securely.
Collecting Personal Information
Vicious Pty Ltd does not collect personal information without a customer’s consent. Information is collected when a person supplies it voluntarily, to receive further information, be it as part of a subscription (such as new release or upcoming event information) or to join a specific mailing list. This is generally basic detail such as name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. Personal preferences may also be noted.
Vicious Pty Ltd does not generally collect sensitive information, and will only ever do so if it absolutely necessary and the customer approves. Vicious Pty Ltd does not and will not use any form of so-called “address-harvesting” technology to gather personal information.
Use of Personal Information
Information provided by customers is used for administrative purposes in rendering services requested by customers, namely processing sales and supplying products, or to provide information on Vicious Pty Ltd, its products and services, or the products or services of its associated companies.
Vicious Pty Ltd also uses contractors and its own service providers to do business. If at any time personal information is passed on to these third parties, then we require them to provide the same level of protection and confidentiality for that personal information that is exercised by Vicious Pty Ltd and its employees.
Any information posted on an online message board or provided in any chat area run by Vicious Pty Ltd will always be considered public information. Vicious Pty Ltd always recommend using discretion before posting any personal details online.
Accessing and amending personal information
Customers always have a right to review information that may be held by Vicious Pty Ltd. Individuals who wish to do so should direct all correspondence to the Privacy Officer. Vicious Pty Ltd is also obliged to take reasonable steps to correct information about a customer if that information is not accurate, up-to-date or complete. If for any reason we can not disclose all information on hand we will provide reasons why.
An “unsubscribe” option will always be provided for general subscription-based newsletters or other regular updates that may be delivered by e-mail. Vicious Pty Ltd will always remove a customer from a mailing or subscription list promptly upon their request.
Cookies
Vicious Pty Ltd uses cookies to enhance a customer’s experience when using its website. Cookies are basically packets of information that are collected and sent to our hard drive as a customer moves through the web pages. They do little more than track this movement over the Internet, and will only collect personal information if and when the customer provides it. This information may then be used to recognise and greet a customer next time he or she visits, or to allow that customer to save re-entering personal details such as e-mail addresses or passwords by prompting information that has previously been entered.
If at any stage a customer does not wish to have cookies active, then it is usually possible to shut them down through the browser. However, some functions on the website may not operate as normal, including product transactions.
Security
Vicious Pty Ltd always takes reasonable steps to ensure the security of personal information, both in hardcopy and electronic form. All hardcopy documents are kept on locked premises. All employees of Vicious Pty Ltd are obliged to respect the confidentiality of this information. Where provided for transactions, credit card details will only be held by Vicious Pty Ltd for the reasonable time required to process that transaction, after which they will be destroyed.
Personal information in electronic form is stored on secure computer servers and Vicious Pty Ltd utilises firewalls and virus protection programs to prevent that information from being retrieved or corrupted by outside parties. However, neither Vicious Pty Ltd nor its associated companies can in any way guarantee the security of personal information transmitted over the Internet.
Vicious Pty Ltd may also provide links to outside websites. These businesses are not under Vicious Pty Ltd’s control and we can not take any responsibility for their conduct.
