Darren Glen
Artist, engineer, producer, remixer, DJ…there is no doubt that Darren Glen is passionate about dance music. Having served as an engineer for two ARIA award winning Vicious Vinyl dance productions Pendulum and Sgt. Slick, is a full time member of the commercial dance duo “Smash and Grab”, a resident DJ on Melbourne’s club scene, a founding member of the internationally successful Blackout team (alongside Andy Van), a remixer to a variety of diverse productions, and now part of the Australia-wide MCM Radio program “Loaded”, Darren Glen is a key member of the Australian Dance Community. Darren’s productions for various labels include a new solo project which allows him the creative freedom to work as a solo artist, while maintaining his group projects Smash and Grab and Blackout. However his solo project is niether an extension of either acts, but focusing on tweaked out, funked up, big time base lines with diva style vocals ... Soulful Vocal House. Darren’s past successes have been well documented with both Smash and Grab (MDS) hitting the # 1 spot on the AMR dance report, with “Drive me crazy” peaking at # 5 on the AMR dance chart and charting Top 40 on the ARIA singles chart. His contribution to Blackout’s massive hit “Gotta Have Hope” (released on Vicious grooves) was # 1 in Mixmag's chart, was released in Germany by Sony, in the UK by Multiply and a variety of other territories such as France, Norway, Italy and the US. With over 10 years of Djing experience & having worked on remixes for Kate Cebrano, Deni Hines, & Quench, Darren’s ability as producer / remixer is without question. He now works as Label Manager for Melbourne label 2Q Records, the dance label for Michael Gudinski (of Mushroom fame), continually DJ’s at various gigs and continues to work on productions for many of his various artist alias’s.
